Honey Hot Toddy
As the weather cools, we embrace beekeeping season coming to a close with all the cozy traditions. One of our favorite activities is building a fire, curling up with a good book, and making a warm drink. And hot toddies are always the right choice, because since they double as cold medicine, we probably always need one, right?
Our favorite Honey Hot Toddy has a secret ingredient that makes it even simpler to make - raw creamed honey! Why creamed honey? Because it's easier and less messy to measure. And once you get it in hot water it dissolves beautifully.
Here's one last note about this photo before I get you the goodies. We are a mix of high and low effort in our house. We used bottled lemon juice and then garnished with a slice of Meyer lemon that we grew outside in our backyard in Seattle, WA. So you decide how hard to go. We are currently growing a cinnamon tree in our living room...so maybe someday we can garnish this with our very own cinnamon bark.
Ingredients (for one)
- A teabag or 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea
- We love Jasmine Pearl Tea Co's Early Grey tea
- For non-caffeine evenings a Rooibos tea is perfect!
- 2 teaspoons Creamed Raw Honey
- 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
- Hot Water to fill mug
- Optional: 1.5-3 oz (1-2 shots) of your favorite local bourbon or Finnriver Chai Spice Brandy Wine.
- Optional garnish: Cinnamon stick, star anise, or a slice of lemon. Whatever feels fun (and easy).
Instructions
- Brew 6-8 oz of our favorite tea
- We are big loose leaf tea drinkers, but you can use a tea bag as well!
- After 3-4 minutes remove the tea strainer
- Add 2 teaspoons of Creamed Raw Honey and 2 teaspoons lemon juice and stir.
- Optionally add a shot of your favorite bourbon.
- Sit by your fireplace, sip, and relax.
