Aquavit Honey Hot Cocoa
This is one of the easiest cozy recipes to make, so we're warning you in advance you may need to temper yourself. We recently made our spiked Honey Hot Cocoa in an Instant Pot plugged into our electric truck in the middle of a field with our honeybees. It was as glorious as it sounds.
How did we come up with this recipe? It's not ours to claim at all. Our friends at Norden Aquavit whipped this up for the adults only evening of Julefest at the Nordic Museum. The main difference is we took their recipe of boring hot cocoa (ok, FINE they did make it from scratch), and subbed in our fabulous Honey Cocoa.
So enough yapping - here's the recipe!
For a Party
- Half gallon milk
- 1 jar of Honey Cocoa
- Aquavit for spiking (or other liquor if you don't have aquavit, but we recommend aquavit)
- Whipped cream and sprinkles (I say those are optional, but Peter would insist they are mandatory)
Warm up your half gallon of milk. Use the stove, InstantPot or crockpot! For the InstantPot we use the simmer function and it heats up quickly.
Use a spatula to dump a jar of honey cocoa. Stir or whisk until incorporated (it'll be fast as long as the milk is hot).
Ladle into vessel of your choice, and top each 8 ounce mug with 1/2-2 ounces of Aquavit (to taste/preference).
