Peter's Green Tea Hot Toddy

Peter's Green Tea Hot Toddy

We love a good Hot Toddy as the weather cools, whether it's a classic Honey Hot Toddy, or our go to, a Nordic Spice Honey Hot Toddy.

But sometimes Peter gets creative with what we have and he decided to mix it up with green tea and orange juice! Inspired by one of my favorite ways to use Nordic Spice in the summer (iced green tea with Nordic Spice simple syrup), the earthiness of the green tea is balanced well by the Nordic Spice and the splash of orange juice.

And in case you missed it in our earlier Hot Toddy recipes, Peter topped it off with a slice of Meyer Lemon from our 15 year old tree! It's in our backyard, and lived in the bedroom of our very first apartment when we got married 15 years ago. In the winter in Seattle we cover it in C9 Christmas lights (non-LED) and then cover it in a cloche on the coldest nights. It looks very Charlie Brown Christmas and makes us very happy.

Ok - now for the recipe!

Ingredients (for one)

  • A teabag or 1 teaspoon of loose leaf green tea
  • 2 teaspoons Nordic Spice Creamed Honey
  • 1.5 teaspoons Lemon Juice
  • .5 teaspoon Orange Juice
  • Hot Water to fill mug
  • 1-2 shots of Rum
  • Fresh lemon slice and a cinnamon stick for garnish!

Instructions

  • Brew tea with 190 degree water for 3 minutes
  • Add 2 teaspoons Nordic Spice Creamed Honey
  • Add 1.5 teaspoons lemon juice
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon orange juice
  • 1-2 shots rum
  • Garnish with a fresh slice of lemon and a cinnamon stick

We'd love to hear if you try our slightly unconventional Hot Toddy!
