We're Hiring a Farmers Market Associate!

Come join the Rainy Day Bees team. We are seeking a part‑time Farmers Market Associate to represent our small business at the Lake City Farmers Market on Thursdays, sharing the story of our bees, tasting honey, and selling honey. This role is perfect for someone who loves local food, enjoys talking with people, and thrives in a lively outdoor environment.

  • Title: Farmers Market Associate

  • Location: Lake City Farmers Market, Seattle, WA

  • Day/Time: Thursdays, 1:00–8:00pm (includes setup + breakdown) from June-September (though if only available through August can discuss)

  • Type: Non‑exempt, hourly, part‑time, seasonal

  • Pay: $22–$24/hour DOE

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Sales & Customer Engagement: Make sales, answer shopper questions, and communicate the story and products of Rainy Day Bees in an engaging, friendly way.

  • Product Knowledge: Share information about honey and bees, willingness to learn is welcome.

  • Point of Sale: Input all sales through our iPad‑based POS system, maintain accurate counts, and securely manage the cash box.

  • Setup & Breakdown:

    • Arrive on time to unload, set up, and merchandise the booth in an appealing, organized manner.

    • Pack up the booth at the end of the market and loading the vehicle.

  • Brand Representation: Maintain a warm, professional presence that reflects Rainy Day Bees’ values of community, sustainability, and education.

Required Qualifications

  • Reliable and communicative, with consistent Thursday availability (some flexibility with every week).

  • Comfortable engaging with customers and speaking about products.

  • Interest in bees, pollinators, or local food systems.

  • Able to lift 40 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.

  • Able to learn and operate an iOS‑based point of sale system.

  • Willing to take feedback on sales language and booth flow.

There are also some hours available on Saturdays for additional markets if desired, and likely some production support hours (bottling/labeling honeys).
